28/01/2025: Heat recovery in ventilation systems plays a decisive role in increasing energy efficiency and reducing operating costs.

Nowadays, air handling systems with heat recovery are state of the art for cooling and heating the outside air (AUL). In ventilation systems in the #semiconductor industry, recuperative systems are increasingly being used. In these recuperative systems, the energy is transferred to a heat transfer medium (water, glycol) and made available to the corresponding air flow. The supply and extract air volume flows are completely separated from each other and any contamination of the supply air volume flow with loads from the exhaust air is eliminated. Furthermore, the separation offers more flexibility in the installation of very large supply and exhaust air handling units (100,000mΒ³/h per unit are not uncommon). In addition to the heat transfer rates and imbalances between the supply and exhaust air volume flows, the pressure losses and the necessary pump capacity in the heat transfer medium circuit must be taken into account when designing these combined systems.
